About Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday Events

myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is a non-profit trade association comprised of 79 championship golf courses and 99 golf package providers in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area. Founded in 1967, the organization continues to be the driving force behind the growth of the region’s thriving golf market. The originator of the “Stay and Play Package,” Golf Holiday provides non-biased information about accommodations and golf courses to assist golfers in making the most informed decisions when planning for their next vacation.

The Events Division at Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday operates six tournaments throughout the year, in an effort to promote Myrtle Beach through fun, competitive events. These tournaments are generally scheduled at slower times during the year to benefit golf course members and take advantage of lower rates to maximize value for participants. The Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship – the world’s largest single-site amateur golf tournament, has been a staple for over 30 years. The Palmetto High School Golf Championships and the Veterans Golf Classic are both nearing 20 years old and three new events were born in 2014 to fill out the calendar and extend the competitive golf season in Myrtle Beach. The Myrtle Beach Fall Classic, Preseason Classic and March Championship are proving to be just as successful as the other tournaments in their infancy.

The important distinction for our tournaments is that we operate as a non-profit with the goal of promoting the area golf courses, member lodging properties and the Myrtle Beach area as a golf tourism destination. There is no fluff or profit margin built in to the tournament entry fees, so the participant is always paying a winning fee to play in our tournaments. Prizes, food, drinks and gift bags are not sacrificed for the padding of the bottom line, so the experience players have in our events tend to be well above expectations for the cost of the entry fee.

Golf Holiday also sponsors or otherwise facilitates several other events and tournaments annually to help to foster continued growth of the game. We host the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament each spring, the Myrtle Beach Never Forgets Memorial Golf Outing, the GolfWEEK Program Challenge Collegiate Tournament,  and three Hurricane Junior Golf Tour events.
